This project provides everything you need to start your students off on an independent information gathering experience which focuses on the Civil War soldier's experiences. Through use of provided resources (website links, photographs, video links) and graphic organizers, students spend time searching relevant sources which have been selected to lead them to the information they are seeking. This is perfect for the middle school aged student who can become distracted by information overload when searching the web. I use this as an introductory week project when beginning the Civil War, but it works well if you are right in the middle of the Civil War as well.
Tip: I upload the sources list and the photographs to Google Classroom. From there, students can click on and open the links for the sources and view the photographs. I only copy the graphic organizers for the students.
