This reader's theater was written for 4 students. It was written for students who are on a 1st grade reading level. The class is getting a pet. Nan, Pat, Bill, and Jon are trying to guess what the pet will be. They discuss problems that different animals may cause and decide that the class pet should be a fish. I used this script to help my phonics group practice and then, once they performed it, we wrote a persuasive paper asking the principal to let us have a pet. I use all of my Reader's Theaters to help students improve their fluency. My students, especially the ones struggling to read, still require motivation to improve and that is where Reader's Theater comes in. My name is Melanie Whitesides and I hope that you will enjoy this small group Reader's Theater. My store name is Wonbyone. If you like this script, take a look at some of my others. As I have said before, small groups are better because students aren't waiting as long to do their part and they get more practice in. Please let me know what you think of this one. Most of my scripts are black and white to make it easier to photocopy. Thank you.
