This lesson is designed to give students a choice in exploring a topic related to the Cold War in more detail. The project guidelines require students to choose a topic or biography from a list of events, concepts, and important figures from the Cold War period and to research that topic in order to create a power point presentation on their choice. The project would be applicable as a summation activity in either a World History or US History class. The list of topics students can choose from is extensive, but includes things such as the Korean DMZ, the Berlin Airlift, the Space Race, the Cold War culture in the United States, the Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan and people such as Khrushchev, JFK, Gorbachev, and Reagan. The directions give students clear instructions on what their power points must include and also contain a rubric that can be used for grading the presentations.
