Description

Overview:

Students will learn about the impact of the Columbian Exchange by conducting a close reading and answering two questions based on the readings. After students understand the basics of the Columbian Exchange they will use the internet to search for Primary and Secondary Sources about key items that were exchanged. As an extension, students can complete a “recipe” project that will help reinforce the content.

What is Included?:

1. Lesson Plan: Big Idea, Essential Questions, Student Objectives and How to implement lesson.

2. Student Reading and Comprehension Question worksheet: This worksheet explains what the Columbian Exchange was and how it impacted various communities.

3. Student Research Worksheet: Students will use this guide (and a worked example) to research the Columbian Exchange using the Internet. They will be investigating the impact of the exchange on the "New" and "Old World."

4. Columbian Exchange Recipe Project Directions: Students we investigate which ingredients are from the "New" or "Old" world and create an interactive and culturally relevant project.
