The Color Purple, by Alice Walker, is a strong narration by a character that has gone through horrific events in her life. This worksheet asks the question- Can she be reliable? Can we trust the way she is characterizing the other characters around her? The students get to look at different aspects of her narration and determine if they can believe her or not. This can also lead into a great open discussion on Celie as a character herself, along with all others she describes in the novel!
