Product Description
Celebrate President's Day! Be sure your kids understand how the American government came to be. This resource tells the story of how America became a country and adopted the Constitution to become the law of the land. It is a synopsis of the events from the Declaration of Independence to the ratification of the United States Constitution. The focus is on America’s Founding Fathers and their struggles and compromises to get the delegates from the 13 states to ratify the document. The story is written in segments of one to three pages. Each segment is followed by a page of a few comprehension questions that highlight the important information in the segment. Reading the entire story will give kids an understanding of this period in history. However, it is designed so that the teacher can use specific segments to enhance the classroom curriculum—complete with questions for that segment.
Interactive materials and graphic organizers are included to help kids identify and understand the main ideas. Answer keys are included.
