This Reader's Theater was designed to get kids practicing the Zeno words. The 107 most used sight words. There are parts for 4 students. There are other words in the script but they are low words - used for 1st through 2nd grade. In the script, the kids are getting together to talk when they see a cool kid coming their way. They ask him just how they can be as cool as he is. The cool kid hasn’t been trying to be cool but is just a nice person so he asks the kids to tell him WHY they think he is cool. When they give him a list they see that they too could be cool but understand that being cool is not as good as helping others. Finally, they agree to work together to help others.
I use reader's theaters to encourage my students to practice fluency. It is a fun way to do something that they need. The lower a student's level, the harder it is to motivate them to practice which is why I have written these lower level scripts. Most of my scripts are in black and white so they photo copy easily.
The problem with many other reader's theaters is that students spend a lot of time waiting for their part. When you have a small group they get more practice in and less off task behaviors take place. My name is Melanie Whitesides but my store name is Wonbyone. If you would like more of these scripts please visit my store! I hope that your students enjoy this script as much as mine did. Let me know how things go!
