At the end of the year after the AP English exam, I lead students through a film study of the 2002 production, The Count of Monte Cristo. They love it! But we don't just watch the film- we analyze it as we go, track character details, discuss the themes, and write an essay about the various thematic tensions in the film. These materials are ready for your copy machine! Hit print!
This resource includes a windowpane that asks students to track four thematic tensions. An example is perseverance versus surrender. Additionally, it asks students to identify characterization adjectives for all main characters. This will provide support for when they write their essay after the film.
