The components of this set were designed as part of an Interactive Notebook.
Instructional Guide – 87 page instructional guide compiled from Sparknotes’ website. Includes character analysis, chapter summaries, section analysis, and a breakdown of key literary skills (theme, symbolism, etc.)
21 Essay Prompts + 21 Scoring Guides – In creating these resources, I grouped chapters into sections based on the events of the novel. There are 19 sections in all. These essay prompts coincide with those sections and allow students the opportunity to practice writing literary analysis. Essay structure is based on the TEPAC model (Topic Sentence…Evidence…Paraphrase…Analyze…Connect/Conclude). This structure, when followed correctly, leads students to compose a strong literary analysis—a common component of all standardized tests. To assist teachers and students who may be unfamiliar with this model, I have included a sentence starter guide and detailed rubric for free. Each essay prompts is labeled with the correlating standard; virtually every “Reading Fiction” standard covered within set.
