The “CrAlphabet”, a playful merge of the words “crafts” and “alphabet” , is a packet which includes 26 unique templates for craftivities - one for each letter of the alphabet. These art-based projects are meant to help the children understand that letters represent sounds and begin to associate each letter with its sound(s) (alphabetic principle).
Beginning sounds activities are embedded in each template, which turns into an animal. The animal’s name begins with the letter and sound in focus (A - Alligator, B - Bird, etc.) .
Students are introduced to letters and basic letter - sound correspondences through art, in an engaging and comprehensive way. The craftivities are also a great way to practice fine motor skills like tracing, drawing, cutting, pasting and folding.
The animals' shapes are easy to cut out and require only one fold.
This packet also contains simple graphic organizers which introduce long and short vowel sounds, hard and soft consonant sounds ( for /c/ and /g/ ) and the different /x/ sounds at the beginning of a number of words.
A - Alligator, B - Bird, C - Caterpillar, D - Duck, E - Elephant, F - Frog, G - Goat, H - Hippo,
I - Iguana, J - Jellyfish, K - Koala, L - Ladybug, M - Monkey, N - Narwhal, O - Octopus,
P - Penguin, Q - Quail, R - Rabbit, S - Snake, T - Tiger, U - Umbrella Bird, V - Vulture,
W - Walrus, X - X-ray Fish, Y - Yak, Z - Zebra.
All the templates and graphic organizers are in black and white. I have added a larger (A3) version of the craftivities to make it easier for little hands to cut.
