This set of three handouts will be the ONLY sheets you will need to run to the copier for Literature Circles this year! Imagine that! I love Literature Circles! I've used them for years...they are student-led discussions that make for meaningful learning. The students are happy, I am happy, my administrators are happy...well, sort of...
I found myself making soooo many copies for each role sheet and all the supporting documents for each of the sessions students conducted. It made me cringe every time I copied a stack for the next round of lit circles. Also, even though lit circles give a different role to each student, I feel some of the roles didn't have equitable rigor like 'Illuminator' compared the other roles. Students didn't come up with high level questions on their own and I often wondered what they gained other than the autonomy.
This pack has endless possibilities for questions that the students can create from the question stems based on Bloom's Taxonomy. There is a space for students to include a 'Most Important Quote/Word' with explanation. It also has 3 levels you can assign to modify the rigor you want. The higher the level, the more rigor. Assign 5 questions, but limit students to no more than...say 2 from the easy Level 1 and the rest must be done from Level 2 and Level 3. There is a planning sheet for students to record who is in their literature circle and what chapters they will be reading and when they are due. There is a self-evaluation rubric included as well.
Please leave positive feedback if you like these and buy them!
