During a PLC discussion about Reading Standards 7, 8, and 9, we started talking about our upcoming unit based on Arthur Miller's play The Crucible
, looking for ways to help our students use other media to gain an understanding of the play. Later that night, while browsing The Crucible
on Pinterest, I was struck by the power of some of the theater posters that were returned in my search. These, I thought, would meet the needs of our PLC goals perfectly! So, ta da… here is a lesson you can use to meet Standard 7.
• Two editable versions of a student worksheet - one with QR codes/links so students can access the posters on their own devices and one without the links (for whole-class sharing/printed versions of the posters)
• A digital copy of a Google Doc you can share with your students or use in your Google Classroom
• Suggested classroom approaches and teaching tips for independent, small group, or whole class activities
• Links to visual literacy resources you can use to help your students master Standard 7
