This activity is aimed at challenging students' higher order thinking skills. In small groups, the students must design an assignment for their peers. They must draft and include instructions. They even create the answer sheet. It calls on students to think critically about the role of the characters in the text, as I would when creating an assignment for them. It also generates great class discussion. After the activity is created, students create a blank template, with instructions, for their peers to use. Groups complete one another's assignments and can offer feedback about the strengths and weaknesses of their designs. I used this with a sophomore honors class, but it can be modified as needed.
