This packet includes 2 passages: dialogue from Act 3 of The Crucible, and an excerpt from Senator Joseph McCarthy's "Enemies from Within" speech.

Throughout the packet students are asked to analyze and compare Danforth and McCarthy's tones, beliefs, and concerns.

Then the culminating question requires students to write a short response to explain how Arthur Miller modeled the character of Judge Danforth after Senator McCarthy.
