This test is in 5 parts and follows the tiers of Bloom's Taxonomy. There is a quote identification section for Part I. Part II is an analysis section where students must explain the meaning and irony behind one of the most famous quotes in the play. Part III requires students to compare and contrast characters in the play. Part IV asks the students to evaluate the motivation of a central character and provide evidence from the play to support their assertion. The final part, Part V, is an essay question in which they are required to create and support an argument regarding the connection of the play to the tumultuous political climate of the 1950s.
There is also a vocabulary element to the test that can easily be removed if not needed.
I have used this quite successfully in my Honors English 11 classes, but it can be easily modified to fit any level.
