This pre-reading activity for Arthur Miller's The Crucible asks students to agree or disagree on 10 different statements that are relevant to the text. Then, students select 2 statements to discuss in depth through writing. This is a great pre-reading activity and lends itself to an in-depth discussion that will get students excited to read the play. The teaching duration of one hour can be expanded or abbreviated depending on the amount of time the teacher wants to devote to discussion.
