Product Description
Cornell Notes (Questions)
This product has a Cornell note-taking system I have adapted to Arthur Miller's play "The Crucible" as an active-reading system.

There are Cornell Notes for each of the four acts with answer keys for all four acts, too.

Instead of having the students take notes while the class is reading the play, like a traditional active-reading system, I have my students go back through the text after each act is completed. I usually let students pair up in this process, and the two students become active, engaged readers as they re-read the text and take their notes on each act.

I allow my students to keep their notes out during class discussions because any student that is called upon should have something to be able to add to the class discussion. In addition, in order to get students to take more thorough notes, I allow them to use their Cornell Notes during the quizzes over each act.

I only grade the Cornell Notes on whether or not they are completed, but you could easily grade on how well they answered the questions if you prefer.

Acts 1 and 2 are each 3 pages, and Acts 3 and 4 are each 4 pages. Therefore, there are 14 pages total for the notes. In addition, the answer keys are provided, which also total 14 pages.

All of these products are in Word and in PDF; therefore, there are a total of 56 pages.

The best part of this note-taking system is that once the play is finished, the students have a set of detailed notes they can refer to when preparing for the unit test.

At minimum, these notes are 4 class days of work. Depending on how much class discussion you do with them could change this up to 8 days of class time.

In addition, I have a set of quizzes that go along with each act and these Cornell Notes. The quizzes are also in my store.
