The Crucible – DYRT (or Did You Read This?) Quiz Series
This document consists of a series of four quizzes, one following each act, of Arthur Miller's "The Crucible."
Each quiz is composed of five questions requiring a short answer response. Note that these are not your typical questions, as they seek details that can only be provided if a student has actually completed the reading.
Typically, we begin reading each act in class and then I assign the remainder for homework. The next day I follow up with a quiz and use the questions as a jumping off point for class discussion, as well.
These can also be used as a lesson plan for your substitute if you will be absent. Students can read an act in small groups, or independently, during the period. Then ask your substitute to distribute this quiz at the end of class.
