I absolutely love The Crucible. It's dramatic and it has an awesome social justice aspect to it. So, here is so many things!!! Here is a list:

  1. THE CRUCIBLE ABRIDGED: I wrote this whole thing. All four acts. By myself. They are fully editable because even though I went through them several times, there are probably still mistakes made.
    1. The abridged version is easy to read, but doesn’t cut out anything important!!!
    2. The cost of the product has nothing to do with this! I priced this for the other materials.

  1. QUESTIONS! There are two versions of the questions -- CP and Abridged
    1. CP: Doesn’t review things we talked about prior to and review the setting
    2. Abridged: Reviews things about the setting and stuff.
    1. Bizarre Witch tests: I used for the information.
      1. I made this into worksheets so that if you would like to print them out, you absolutely can!!
    2. I also use Half-Hanged Mary & Guided Notes, but I didn’t want to include these here due to copyrights.
  3. MCCARTHYISM & RED SCARE: Okay, so I’m a big social justice nerd and this is my absolute favorite part of this unit. These materials are open-ended.
    1. McCarthyism Google Slides: There is a video on the first slide and questions for the kiddos to answer about McCarthyism. There are then some political cartoons to discuss.
    2. Amendment I worksheet: I use this to discuss freedoms in the US and how communist governments could restrict this. I then selected two articles to read. I change this from year to year, but last year I used this: (for freedom of speech) & the article titled “Young woman goes missing after filming Xi Jinping…”
    3. The Children’s Story: A great and very eerie short film based on a short story.
      1. The kids absolutely LOVE this video because it’s just so weird and creepy!! It does an excellent job of visualizing a world taken over by a “communist” government.
    4. The Pledge of Allegiance: the kids will read this and analyze the pledge (most of the time they have no clue what they’re saying). You can do this before or after The Children’s Story up to you.
    5. BONUS: JERSEY DEVIL -- So, I’m from NJ and this is my all time favorite thing. I use this to compare the “mass hysteria” of Jersey Devil Sightings to the “mass hysteria” of the Salem Witch Trials! It’s a cute fun thing to do for Halloween :D
