The Crucible and Joseph McCarthy Power Point Presentation
I’ve always believed that The Crucible is such a powerful and timeless work that it is as relevant today as it was in the time it was first produced, the early 1950s.
Yet a look at the McCarthy years and what inspired Miller to write this drama adds much to our understanding, and is a great way to integrate English and Social Studies.
This Power Point presentation gives a colorful introduction to the way Communism was perceived in our nation in the early to mid-Twentieth Century, and why people of Miller’s generation may have been involved with it (to varying degrees) in their younger years.
The Power Point presentation makes many graphic connections between the era of the 1950s and the Salem Witchcraft Trials.
