BACKGROUND: As part of our unit on the cell, students become familiar with the structure and function of organelles in eukaryotes. One of the main organelles taught in class is the nucleus, which is the cell’s control center and stores DNA; the blueprints of life.
In the DNA extraction lab, students actually get to extract DNA from living strawberry, banana, and/or kiwi cells. Along the way, they learn about the structure of other cell parts such as the cell membrane and histones, both which need to be addressed for this lab. You are purchasing an in-depth breakdown of the planning, procedures, and rationale along with an analysis questions handout for the students as well as a DO NOW handout for the next day!
THIS WILL BE AN AWESOME EXPERIENCE FOR YOUR STUDENTS!
