Product Description
An engaging and detailed lesson presentation (37 slides) and associated worksheet that goes over the Doppler Effect and ensures that students can apply their knowledge to situations involving sound and light waves. The lesson makes use of Sheldon's explanation on the Big Bang theory but breaks it down into smaller, more accessible chunks. Sound waves are considered first and students are reminded about the connection between frequency (and wavelength) and pitch. Students are challenged to explain how a racing car sounds different when moving towards them as to compared to moving away. Moving forwards, students will learn how the Doppler effect is used in conjunction with Red-Shift to explain about an expanding universe. There are regular progress checks throughout the lesson so that students can assess their understanding
