Keeping track of where students should be during Daily 5 activities can be challenging. Especially when you're trying to work with a small group of students or one-on-one while other students are spread through stations throughout the classroom. I've tried the signs at each station, you know the ones where the students clip their name to the sign to show that they're there. The problem with that for me was that I had to walk around and read the small print on each clip on each sign throughout the room to see who was supposed to be where. I wanted something that would let me see all of that information at a glance. So I created this pocket chart organizer for The Daily 5 stations. Students just write their name on a name card (a laminated card with a dry erase marker so they're reusable of course), then they put it on a numbered spot in the row of the pocket chart designated to whatever station they choose. Once all of the numbers are covered with student names, that station if full. Simple and self sufficient organization... perfect!

Instructions : Print and Cut. This organizer is made to be used on a standard pocket chart. Please see the last page of this packet for a preview of the layout on a pocket chart. Each station is accompanied with 6 spots (numbered cards 1-6). I laminate all of the cards to keep them in good condition. Also, when the student name cards are laminated you can let students use a dry erase marker to write their name on a card.
Once their name is on a card they put it on an available number spot before they go to that station. It’s much easier to keep students accountable and on task when you can show them what they have signed up to be doing.
This is a great way to see where each student is at a glance. I’m all about making this simple!
