One of the main components of The Daily Five is giving students choices. This document is the perfect way to do that! Print the sheets two-sided, cut in threes, and you are ready to go! I introduce the idea of choices once all The Daily Five have been taught.
A couple things- the symbols to the left of the day of the week are for younger students. When I taught first grade, it was helpful for the students to find the day of the week by saying, "Make your choice for today, Tuesday, next to the triangle." Another helpful hint with these was to have the students draw a line through the day prior before making that day's choices- kept them on the right line! Also, I made the choices using these sheets for the first two weeks before I ever let the students make them. This gave them time to learn to read the schedule.
