Sequencing Cards (16 cards): After reading the story, have students sequence the cards from beginning to end.
3-Card Story Retell (cut & paste activity for younger students)
6-Card Story Retell: (cut & paste for older students)
Have students cut out the pictures and paste into the boxes in the correct order of the story. Retell the story in their own words using the pictures as aids. Send home worksheet for students to retell story to their parents.
Valentine, You’re All Mine (matching activity): Have students match the Valentine to the correct animal.
Story Comprehension (15 cards): After reading the story, have students answer the WH- questions. Use the cards without picture choices for older students and the cards with picture choices for younger students.
Word Association Puzzles (8 hearts): Cut hearts in half. Each half of the heart features a set of association pictures. Have students find the matches and explain why they go together.
My Special Valentine (craft activity): Have students decorate a heart to make a heart necklace for a special friend. Discuss how Cornelia Augusta chose certain shapes, colors and designs for each of her friends and why they were perfect for each friend. Discuss how the student’s design is perfect for his or her special friend.
Valentine Vocabulary BINGO (6 mats and Teacher Cards)
Articulation Letters: Students write their sound or words with their sound on each of the envelopes for practice. Can be sent home as homework.
Today It Rained…(Worksheet): Have students imagine their own story about a day it rained something special in their city.
Basic Concepts Cards (22 cards): After reading the story, have students answer the concept vocabulary questions.
Love Is In The Air (Worksheet): Have students write or draw pictures of things they love. Can be sent home as homework.
Speech Therapy Update Form: Fill out this form after therapy and send home with student. This form lets the parents know you have seen their child today and what you worked on. There is also space to assign weekly homework. Parents love this!
