Product Description

In this topic pupils look at whether Japan (or any other country ) should have the death penalty. Pupils look at for and against ideas then research and hold a debate on the issue and then self-assess themselves. Pupils are encouraged to create questions to challenge the ideas of others.

This unti includes lesson plans and resources.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the unit all pupils can:

 Plan and contribute to the creation of a debate.
 Share ideas amongst their group.
 Respond to the reasons we need punishments and use them
in the debate
 Work with others to research and prioritise ideas.

At the end of the unit most pupils can:

 Join in a class debate.
 Justify their opinions with reasons and examples.
 Consider a variety of viewpoints.

At the end of the unit some pupils can:

 Respond directly to the views of others.
 Back up opinions that are not their own.
 Create questions to make others justify their opinions.
