Product Description
This file contains a three-page Reading Passage about the theories behind the death of King Tutankhamen. Plus one page for student response.

Students are always intrigued by the untimely death of King Tut. I wanted to have information about the murder theories and the evidence gathered from modern CT scans and other scientific explorations all in one place for students. I took information from various informational sources, including recent reports from CNN for this reading passage.

After reading about the theories, and contemplating the evidence discovered, the fourth page prompts students to consider all they’ve learned and write about the theory they believe to be most likely. The exercise also requires students to identify the evidence that supports their chosen theory.

This activity can also easily be used as a prewriting activity for a persuasive essay.

This product is printer friendly in black and white for easy reproduction. Make a class set of readings that you can collect at the end and use with your next class of students, while printing a copy of the fourth page for every student. OR provide a copy of the reading for every student as well, and teach highlighting/note-taking strategies!

Teacher Tip
I use this product on Halloween! Despite the distractions and high energy levels, I always find my students highly engaged – they are intrigued by the Murder Mystery!
