This resources includes the full text of the Declaration of Independence as well as a handout that includes seven excerpts and space for your students to write their own interpretation and draw images. Students will understand that the Declaration is divided into four parts (Preamble, Declaration of Rights, Bill of Indictment and Statement of Independence) and the differences between the parts. The resource also contains a glossary and a teacher answer key. Additionally, there are six processing activities that your students may complete individually or in a small groups and/or in stations that are set up around the classroom. For example, students may design an award for Thomas Jefferson, they may write an email from King George III to Thomas Jefferson, they may design a famous piece of artwork that depicts the main ideas of the Declaration of Independence and more. Each processing activity comes with specific directions as well as clip art to make the activity more authentic. The activities come in both full page and half page options.
