Product Description

11/5/18 I added Assignment #4A. This is a 40 question assignment with emphasis on standard form, substitution and the discriminant. It is available at socrative.com.

Included in this zip folder are 6 Power Point files and 3 PDF files.

2 Power Points are for instruction and 4 are assignments.

Power Point Instruction file #1 is a 39 slide file. The emphasis is on the discriminant of quadratic equations, not graphs(yet). There are example problems to be used as whole group formative assessment. There are example problems to view as exemplars.

Power Point Instruction file #2 is a 34 slide file. The emphasis is on the discriminant and its relationship to a graph, specifically the x axis. There are examples to be worked as whole class formative assessment. There is also some examples to be viewed as exemplars.

PDF Student printable #1 is on 1 page for easy printing. The emphasis is on equations. These 4 outcomes are summarized:

1. 1 Real, Rational Solution

2. 2 Real, Rational Solutions

3. 2 Real, Irrational Solutions

4. 2 Imaginary Solutions

PDF Student printable #2 is on 1 page for easy printing. The emphasis is on how a quadratic function hits the x axis, if at all and the discriminant.

PDF Student Printable #3 is on 1 page for easy printing. The emphasis is how the lead coefficient and the discriminant can be analyzed to determine much about a quadratic function.

Power Point Assignment file #1 is on 1 page for easy printing. It is a 27 question assignment. The student is asked to distinguish between rational, irrational and imaginary numbers. The student is also asked to find the discriminant of a quadratic equation. Finally, the student is asked to determine the type(s) of solutions of a quadratic equation from:

1. 1 Real, Rational Solution

2. 2 Real, Rational Solutions

3. 2 Real, Irrational Solutions

4. 2 Imaginary Solutions

Power Point Assignment file #2 is on 1 page for easy printing. It is a 20 question multiple choice assignment. The student must pick the best graph given information about the discriminant and the lead coefficient.

Power Point Assignment file #3 is on 1 page for easy printing. It is a 24 question assignment. The student is asked to find the discriminant of a quadratic function, The student is also given 8 graphs and to choose the best one based on a given quadratic function. The student should use the discriminant and the leads coefficient to find the best graph.
