This is a fractured fairy tale based on “The Frog Prince”. Many years ago a young prince was disloyal to the Royal Wizard by breaking a promise and had a spell cast on him. The wizard turned him into a dog. The only way the spell could be broken is by a family taking the dog into their home. They must let him eat at their table, sleep beside their bed, and they all must love him. He roamed the land for hundreds of years waiting for someone to want him. One day he helped a little girl after she promised to take him in. She broke that promise, but her family made her bring the dog into their home anyway. Over time, the family came to love the dog, including the little girl.
The reader's theater is created for a small group or a whole class. The chorus can accommodate one student to many students if done with the class. See the preview for a list of characters and the number of parts.
