This is a quick opener (about 15-20 minutes) for division that I use with my kids. I pass out Cookie Crisp cereal for "cookies", and as I read the book (The Doorbell Rang), the kids simulate the division going on with their cookies at their desk. Then they begin to build division number sentences as I read the story. This is how I introduce the vocabulary associated with division and how I tie it in with multiplication and fact families. Needless to say, the kids love eating their "cookies" after the mini lesson.
