What a powerful story to introduce to your students at the beginning of the school year to teach your learners about an open-mindset and self-discovery. But how to learn about this incredibly valuable story when you have limited English?
I have been searching for an ESL resource for my Beginner English Language learners (senior Years) and decided to create a frontloading activity to pre-teach problematic vocab to my students before and after watching the story on Youtube.
This resource is ready-to-go and steps you and your students through the task.
#1. Before watching the story on Youtube (3:45 min), go over 14 multiple-choice questions with students. Let them think what the vocab means. Ss are required to give their answers on the worksheet provided.
#2: After watching, students have to respond to questions again on the sheet. Go over the questions with the whole class. PowerPoint has all the answers ready for you!
#3: After watching activity: Vashti's Journey. Students will be providing "juicy" words to describe how Vashti's mood has changed throughout the story. Comes with a ready-to-go Google Docs diagram template.
Youtube video and Google docs are included via hyperlinks. Just click on the images in the PPT and it will re-direct you.
