This is a unit study about the oceans, the location of the oceans, and the ocean floor. There are various points that will be highlighted to enhance student learning throughout the lesson plan. Every lesson will be broken down into various parts within the Scope and Sequence. These parts include: opening, body, closure, and assessment. Within the body students will have direct and indirect instruction. Students will also participate in various hands-on investigating activities. Students will have access to various materials and manipulatives to help enhance their learning. In my classroom I have access to the Smartboard that allows for engaging videos, lessons, and games. Students will be doing all experiments within the classroom.
Students will participate in a question of the day that will provide the students to which what they will be investigating that day. Students will copy this question along with the objectives for each day in their science binders. The students will create a ocean section in their binder in which all materials of the week will be placed. This will provide reference to their notes and keep them organized as the unit progresses. This will meet the needs of many of my students’ organizational goals.
Each day my students will be evaluated on the objectives of the lesson plan. Students will be graded on organization, student work, daily assessment, homework and participation.
