The Earth and It’s Weather Changes is a SmartBoard instructional presentation in line with the 2nd Grade SOL’s for the state of Virginia (Interrelationships in Earth/Space Systems)
2.6 The student will investigate and understand basic types, changes, and patterns of weather. Key
a) temperature, wind, precipitation, drought, flood, and storms; and
b) the uses and importance of measuring and recording weather data.
This lesson focuses on the sudden weather changes that occur on Earth. It includes: a Smartboard presentation discussing terms associated with weather (evaporate, water vapor, condense, water cycle, precipitation, erosion, earthquake, landslide, and volcano). There is a detailed slide showing the water cycle and two SmartBoard activities (one matching the type of weather with a description and one asking about U.S. locations and their potential weather emergencies). The two activities are also included in black and white so they can be given as classwork, homework, or accompanying supplement to the presentation.
