The Easter Egg by Jan Brett is a delightful children's Easter story. This Reader's Theater allows the children not only to enjoy the story a bit more, but to increase their reading and speaking fluency.
There are ten speaking parts in this Reader's Theater. You may use it in a small reading group, a reading center, an independent reading practice center, or as a free-time activity.
It may be performed in front of another class, the principal, an assembly, or in front of the other students in your class. It's often fun to invite the parents in and have a "Reader's Theater" day!
Depending on how many scripts and students you have, each reading group could be practicing a different Reader's Theater. Then your class could present to each other!
Feel free to change the script in any way that you need.
If you like Reader's Theaters, you might be interested in Listen Buddy (a bunny who finds out the true value of being a good listener), The Night Before Easter, and Little Bunny's Sleepless Night (a cute story about a bunny who finds out that sleeping in his own home is best of all).
I also have written one for Little Red Hot. This is a very cute story written by Eric A. Kimmel and is a variation of Little Red Riding Hood. The Gingerbread Cowboy is another one that is on my site.
