How I use it...
I teach drawing, digital art, and yearbook in inclusion classrooms. I use this presentation in all three classes. I really believe that no matter what visual art medium the kids are working in, they do better work if they have a solid understanding of the elements of art.

Students are required to keep either a sketchbook or notebook for every class I teach. I use the PowerPoint to present the topic. I talk about the images and information as we go, pacing it so that they have time to take notes. When we get to one of the built in activities, I circulate and make sure they understand it. When the presentation is done, I give the quiz right away. They use a separate piece of paper and we trade and grade when it's done. The next class period, I give the quiz again for review. I let them use their notes on the quiz. This method helps ensure that they always bring their sketchbook/notebook to class.

There are two icons that signal to the students what they are supposed to do with a given slide. The pencil icons means they should copy the slide into their notes, drawings and images included. The leaping rabbit icon means the slide describes and activity that they are to do in their sketchbook. I've been using this method for years and it works well!
