In this highly engaging lesson, students are introduced to ideas that formed the basis of the American Revolution.
Students are taught about the Enlightenment movement and the influential figures such as Thomas Hobbes, John Locke, Charles de Montesquieu, and Jean-Jacques Rousseau.
Then, students are introduced to the religious movement that unites the colonies, the First Great Awakening.
Students complete guided notes throughout this entire presentation that correspond perfectly to the PowerPoint! Too, a video clip that recaps both events is included and provides for a great "recap" activity!
Couple this lesson with another one (located here) that provides for a fun, station-based activity on the Enlightenment thinkers! Hobbes, Locke, Montesquieu, Rousseau, and Voltaire!
