This is a social story appropriate for grades pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st. This story would also be appropriate for older children with special needs (developmental delay, autism spectrum disorder, etc.)
Fire drills can be scary for younger students and some of our students with special needs. This book is intended to explain what happens during a fire drill using simple language. Students will learn what is expected of them during the drill, such as walking in a quiet line, listening to teacher directions, etc. The book normalizes that the fire alarm can be startling, but reinforces that we do not need to be afraid during a drill.
Reflection page included at the end for students to illustrate and write about what they do during a fire drill.
