This 4 page text introduces students to the first people who migrated across the land bridge and spread throughout North and South America. The text gives students information about different climates in North America and focuses on the ways different cultures have adapted to survive in each climate.

You get the same article at three different levels, allowing for flexibility and easy differentiation. There are also vocabulary, language and comprehension activities, including Text Dependent Questions AND an Integrating Information activity that asks students to read a fiction passage and use information from the main informational text to make an inference.

Here's what you get:

1. A four page text at three different levels (1000 - 1100 Lexile, 900 - 1000 Lexile, and 800 - 900 Lexile.) The levels are appropriate for most 4th, 5th and 6th graders.

2. Two Vocabulary activities (Word Wonder, Context and Connections).

3. One Language Activity (Comma Compentence).

3. Three comprehension activities (What's the Gist?, Text Dependent Questions and Integrating Information).

4. All the activities come with an Answer Key and/or Rubric to make grading simple!

There are suggested schedules and ideas for how to use each activity.

Just print and teach! No prep!

This resource works great for substitutes!
