The First Mosquito,
written and illustrated by Caroll Simpson, explores First Nations’, (Native American) Literature with reading strategies such as visualization, connection, questioning, predicting and summarizing.
Easy to use reading response pages have been created for each lesson; as well as student evaluation and teacher assessment rubrics for each page.
Included is a First Nations’ / Native American Supernatural Creatures design booklet. A brief description is provided on many common supernatural creatures. Students can use northwest coast design elements (examples provided) to design the creatures. Blank lined and interlined versions are also provided as an alternative research project.
Other First Nations Legend units available are:
Hiawatha and the Peacemaker

To obtain a copy of this book and others like it, I recommend checking out Strong Nations,
an online bookstore supplying indigenous and Native American books. Not only do they have an extensive selection, they provide themed book bundles for all age ranges.
