PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Looking for a beginning research lesson for Thanksgiving?

This unit compares the daily lives of Pilgrims and Native Americans using the Scholastic website
http://www.scholastic.com/scholastic_thanksgiving/daily_life/

This partial lesson focuses on the CLOTHING worn by both groups. Kindergarten and first grade students are introduced to the concept of research by listening/reading the information on the website. They then choose the appropriate words from a word bank and write a sentence to answer a research question.
Students choose a picture of the source they used, the title, and author of the source. Finally, students draw a picture of Pilgrims/Native American in their appropriate clothing. This lesson can be modeled as a whole group activity or as an individual assignment (or both).
