PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Looking for a beginning research lesson for Thanksgiving?

This unit compares the daily lives of Pilgrims and Native Americans using the Scholastic Thanksgiving Website

This a whole unit on the clothing, chores, food, games, houses, and schooling of both groups. Kindergarten and first grade students are introduced to the concept of research by listening/reading the information on the website. They then choose the appropriate words from a word bank and write a sentence to answer a research question.
Students choose a picture of the source they used, the title, and author of the source. Finally, students draw a picture of Pilgrims/Native Americans demonstrating the part of their daily life. This lesson can be modeled as a whole group activity or as an individual assignment (or both).
