This product is an interactive booklet intended to teach descriptive concepts based on how objects smell. Descriptive concepts targeted include: stinky, good, clean/fresh, floral, smokey. This booklet is also designed to increase utterance length rather than just labeling the descriptive term. On each page, the student selects the descriptive concept and places it in a sentence strip. The student then reads the sentence strip aloud. When I use these booklets, I often find real objects to teach the descriptive terms first and then we compare others using the booklet.
This booklet has been wonderful to use with students with receptive/expressive language impairments because it shortens the book into key concepts at the sentence level. It has also been great because students are able to identify vocabulary by manipulating the pictures. I often use this with students who have autism or cognitive impairments. I'm sure it would be a great resource for the Pre-K and Kindergarten ages as well.
