.This Reader's Theater was written for a small group of 4 students. It is about how the Flag Code and helps to explain what the flag represents as well as how to treat it.Chris does not know any of the rules for how to handle the flag and does not understand what the flag represents. His friends explain the Flag Code to him and also why he should respect the flag more. This also makes a great script for the 4th of July. I write small group reader's theaters so they will work better in centers and to avoid having long wait times between student's lines. Wait time is not reading time and often turns into off task behavior time. Small group reader's theater helps to get students reading more and encourages even reluctant readers to practice fluency. My name is Melanie Whitesides but my store name is Wonbyone and I hope that your students enjoy this script as much as mine did. Most of my scripts are black and white so that they can be photo copied easier and take less ink. I love using this script before Memorial day, the 4th of July, or some of the other federal holidays. I think it would be a good opener for a discussion about why we need to stand to say the pledge of allegiance as well. This script could work with 4th grade if you help them with the vocabulary. Please let me know what you think.
