The most fun way to learn about food chains!
The Food Chain Game is an unique card based game where players connects producers, consumers, and decomposers to make food chains.
Players create and add onto each other's food chains to play their cards. The first to play all of his or her cards is the winner!
In the more challenging versions, appropriate for third grade and up, students must watch out for interruptions to the food chain.
Pollution, loss of habitat, or overfishing can spoil your food chain!
At a science center, students can create and rearrange food chains using the plant and animal cards. Five versions of a recoding sheet are included, so whether you're working on producers, consumers, and decomposers, or carnivores, herbivores, and omnivores, you can find a center that works for your classroom!
Other ideas for the cards:
*Create a Venn Diagram based on animal features (animals with tails and animals with wings)
*Sort animals based on their ecosystem
*Challenge students to see who can create the longest food chain
*Have a few extra minutes before a transition? Students can challenge each other to a quick match. If your principal walks in, she will see the kids engaged in a fun learning activity!
