The Freedom Rides Webquest with Key- this is an 8 page document that contains a webquest and a completed teachers key for easy marking. It contains 16 questions based on the history.com website and a PBS documentary clip.
Students will be asked to read an article about the Freedom Rides and the activists who rode on these buses in order to help bring segregation to an end. The overall goals of the Freedom Riders, the violence they encountered in the South (beatings, bombings), the injustice of the southern courts, and the eventual end of segregation on interstate bus lines and in bus depots are all covered in the article. Students will also be asked to search for a clip from a PBS documentary regarding the Freedom Riders.
