Journal Writing Questions
This product is designed to be used individually by students as they read this book (although the questions can also be used for whole-or small-group discussion). They should have a journal (or a portion of their journal) devoted to the responses they will write as they read this book.
Students first read the Before You Read information and respond to the prompt in their journal. As they read each chapter of the book, they write the meaning of the vocabulary word(s) selected from each chapter and respond to the accompanying prompt. There are three After You Read activities for when students complete the book.
The questions and prompts do not necessarily have a “correct” answer but are designed to encourage readers to think about the content they just read. There is a suggested answer key with this product.
Here is an example of the type of vocabulary/writing prompt/questions students will respond to (these are pasted from the product):
Chapter 22 (pages 225-241)
"'Infernal egregious waste of resources,' he muttered…" (page 229)
"A beached whale at a raucous jazz spree where no one gave any notice…" (page 239)
Predict whether Rose will get out of the house and whether the getaway car will be waiting. Support your answer with details from the text.
Note that the preview contains the above content. Please see my other chapter questions/writing prompts for novels by clicking on the Novels tab on the lefthand side of your screen. These products are being added to regularly!
