Pirates and Christmas? Hooray!

This speech/language companion packet does not include the book, but does include:

  • 16 Comprehension Questions Includes choice of 2 answers for visual cues if needed.
  • Sequencing with a categorization component. Includes color and blackline versions.
  • Story Sequencing. 8 pictures for sequencing plus a mat. Please use your clinical judgment: if you have students who are not able to sequence 8 pictures, present the appropriate amount. A blackline version is included which can be taken home for practice.
  • Teaching story elements. The student matches the story elements with pictures. A page with blank story elements is included for your convenience.
  • Retell using story elements.
  • Vocabulary Matching Worksheet. Match the word with the picture.
  • What does not belong?
  • Follow Directions. Suggestions for following 1- and multi-step directions!
  • 2 sets of gingerbread people.The sets may be used to play a game such as “Go Fish” for describing, or a matching game for memory. Another memory game that is suggested is to lay down 2 cards for approximately 5 - 10 seconds, then pick them up or cover them. The student chooses the matching cards from his set, and lays them down. If he is successful, 3 cards are laid down, then 4, and so on. See how many he can remember.
  • Emergent Reader. Work on making complete sentencing using the carrier phrase: “I use _______ to make cookies."
  • Gingerbread men/women craftivity.
  • Describing Worksheets. 3 different levels in 2 formats to work on describing a gingerbread man. May be taken home for home practice.
  • Cover Up the Gingerbread Men. Open-Ended Game. The first one to cover up the gingerbread men is the winner. Includes blackline version that may be colored.
  • Homework for Articulation and Verbs. These color by code shapes include one page for each of the following targets: /h,w/, 'y', /p,b,m,n,d,t,f,v,g,k,l/, 'sh', 'ch', 'j', /r,s/, multisyllabic words, present/present progressive, regular past tense, and irregular past tense verbs.
  • Scrambled Sentences. Includes 4-word and 5-word sentences. Answer Keys are included.
