The Giver by Lois Lowry is one of the most eye-opening novels of our time. These materials help students to think about the ideas presented within the novel as well as synthesize their own definitions of "utopia."
Materials included allow for freedom within your curriculum. You can choose from an extensive list of activities, organized by specific points in the book. One string of activities relate with one another, creating a small project that carries throughout the entire novel, allowing students to create their own utopias.
Two other projects, which are thoroughly described will all important materials to hand out to your students, are available for after you finish reading. One of them includes an expository writing assignment, and the other includes a research component.
Finally, printable bookmarks are available to help your students keep track of when different portions of the text are due.
-- Descriptions and script for 24 different activities you can choose from to align with different points in the book
-- Descriptions and scripts for 3 different projects you can choose for after you have completed your reading.
