This acitivity allows students to demonstrate their knowledge and mastery of symbolism and the characteristics of dystopian societies by creating a Found Poem from an excerpt of "The Giver".
This is an awesome, creative activity to use if your class is reading "The Giver." The structure of the lesson and the learning outcomes can also be applied to any novel or piece of text that you would like your students to create a Found Poem on.
This particular activity builds on students' knowledge of dystopian societies. Check out one of my newest lessons on Dystopian societies here: Characteristics of Dystopian Societies

This lesson comes complete with the following resources: an editable PowerPoint Presentation for the lesson, a Teacher's Guide to help you implement the activity effectively in your classroom, .PNG pictures of every slide in the presentation and guide, PDF files of both the presentation and guide, AND actual student samples of "The Giver" Found Poems that my students completed :)
